THE CITY BETWEEN VOLCANOES (ANTIGUA, GUATEMALA)

The Antigua capital of Guatemala, a small city surrounded by volcanoes, with a great attraction for tourism, which is becoming more and more repetitive in its way of interacting with space, as in any tourist place, the historic centers, count exactly with the same establishments, Americans mainly. Homogeneity in identity leads to it taking on greater importance; having proof of having been there becomes more valuable than the simple fact of being there. This leads me to reflect, in a few years, how will our generation be seen? How did I manage to make it all look like? Traveling has become the search for that minimal novelty that means in each one of us.

However, if one tries to look for the Antiguan treasure, they will find the precious Jade, a symbol of their Mayan past, shared with Mexico. A beautiful colonial, catholic architecture. Its cobblestone streets and colorful houses keep alive the flame of not succumbing and proudly displaying itself as a historic city. As in the rest of Latin America, the class difference is very noticeable. As well as the warmth of its working people, its colors, fairs, crafts and mototaxis.
